Vijfde manche van het Belcar Skylimit Sprint Cup kampioenschap. Amper 2 weken om te bekomen van een stevig race weekend tijdens de 24 Uren van Zolder. Sommigen likken nog hun mechanische wonden terwijl anderen erg goede zaken deden in de strijd om de verschillende klassementen. Met voorlopig 22 ingeschreven auto’s voor 27 piloten is de grid wat afgeslankt. Dit betekend echter niet dat de strijd ook minder zal zijn.
In het kader van de FIA European Truck Championship (ETRC) rijden de BSSC wagens op zaterdag 2 qualifying sessies. Vervolgens worden op zondag tussen de truck races door de 2 races afgewerkt met de eerste wedstrijd om 12u20 en de tweede om 15u50.
In klasse 1 neemt Emre Kahraman het op tegen 3 andere klasse genoten die echter geen concurrentie zijn voor de klasse titel… Allard Gooshouwer en Cedric Gerrits staan niet op de deelnemerslijst en kunnen hun strijd op deze manier niet aangaan met Emre.
Met 10 ingeschreven deelnemers, is de klasse 2 het sterkst vertegenwoordigd. Naast pechvogel tijdens het 24 Uren weekend, Tom Vanderheyden, staan naaste concurrenten Dirk Rombouts/Glenn Kerckhofs, Geoffrey Vankets/Sven Leynen, Steven Guillemijn, Bert Lavreysen/Rob Reynders en Ian Delhoux klaar om de strijd voor de klasse titel spannend te houden. Slechts 11 punten scheiden Dirk Rombouts/Glenn Kerckhofs (leiders in de tussenstand) met Ian Delhoux.
De spannende strijd in klasse 3 zal toegespitst worden tot Suzuki Swift rijder Davy Van Goethem en Renault Clio piloot Ignace Van den Broeck. 4 puntjes scheiden hen in de tussenstand om de klasse 3 titel.
Klasse 4 brengt 3 piloten aan de start. Naast klasse leider en tweede in de algemene tussenstand Jean-Paul Hulsebos, maakt ook Jan-Jaap Van Dalen zijn opwachting tijdens het ETRC weekend. Landgenoot Marc Van Der Meulen brengt een Porsche Cayman S aan de start.
De top 3 van de klasse 5 nemen tegen elkaar op tijdens de negende en tiende race van het seizoen. Karl Chandeck en Johan Lambregs Moeten de Mini JCW van Bert van Gansen en de mooie Opel Astra TCR van Peter Pauls achter zich houden om hun leidersplaats in de algemene tussenstand te vergroten.
Bij het afwerken van deze preview, is de strijd in klasse 6 erg eenzaam. Topfavoriet Michael De Rooy ziet zijn eigen e92 BMW M3 als concurrent. Als enige ingeschreven in de klasse kan hij wel belangrijke punten scoren die hem terug in een laatste strijd om de titel kunnen brengen.
--- English version ----This is the fifth round of the Belcar Skylimit Sprint Cup championship. There has been barely two weeks to recover from the intense race weekend of the 24 Hours of Zolder; while some are still nursing mechanical wounds, others made significant gains in the various championship standings. With 22 cars and 27 drivers currently entered, the grid is slightly smaller, but that certainly does not mean the competition will be any less fierce.
As part of the FIA European Truck Championship (ETRC) event, the BSSC cars will run two qualifying sessions on Saturday. The two races will then take place on Sunday, interspersed with the truck races: the first race starts at 12:20 and the second at 15:50.
In Class 1, Emre Kahraman faces three other competitors, though none pose a threat to his class title bid; Allard Gooshouwer and Cedric Gerrits are missing from the entry list, meaning they cannot challenge Emre on the track.
Class 2 boasts the largest field, with ten entrants. Alongside Tom Vanderheyden—who suffered bad luck during the 24-Hour race weekend—rivals Dirk Rombouts/Glenn Kerckhofs, Geoffrey Vankets/Sven Leynen, Steven Guillemijn, Bert Lavrysen/Rob Reynders, and Ian Delhoux are poised to keep the battle for the class title exciting. Only 11 points separate championship class leaders Dirk Rombouts/Glenn Kerckhofs from Ian Delhoux.
The thrilling contest in class 3 will focus on the duel between Suzuki Swift driver Davy Van Goethem and Renault Clio pilot Ignace Van den Broeck. Just four points separate them in the standings for the Class 3 title.
Class 4 features three drivers at the start. Alongside class leader—and second-place holder in the overall standings—Jean-Paul Hulsebos, Jan-Jaap Van Dalen will also make an appearance during the ETRC weekend. Fellow countryman Marc Van Der Meulen is entering a Porsche Cayman S.
The top three drivers in Class 5 will face off during the season's ninth and tenth races. Karl Chandeck and Johan Lambregs must keep Bert van Gansen’s Mini JCW and Peter Pauls’ impressive Opel Astra TCR behind them to extend their lead in the overall standings.
As this preview goes to press, the battle in Class 6 is a lonely affair; top favourite Michael De Rooy effectively sees his own E92 BMW M3 as his only real competition. As the only entrant in the class, he can score important points that might bring him back into a final battle for the title.
