Volgend weekend start, twee weken na de openingsraces in Zandvoort, de tweede manche voor de Belcar Skylimit Sprint Cup. Dit keer doet het kampioenschap het thuis Circuit Zolder aan in het kader van het New Race Festival. Een klassieker die reeds in 1982 een eerste editie kende.
Zaterdag 2 mei start het weekend om 13u05 met een eerste kwalificatie sessie van 30 minuten. Een tweede sessie gaat van start om 15u50. Beide qualifying sessies bepalen de start orde voor de eerste en tweede race op zondag 3 mei.
De start van de eerste 30 minuten durende race vind plaats om 11u00 waarna het race weekend die dag wordt afgesloten met een tweede wedstrijd om 16u40.
36 deelnemers verdeeld over 30 wagens zullen het deze keer tegen elkaar opnemen in 5 verschillende klassen.
Klasse 1 telt 6 sterke deelnemers die het tegen elkaar zullen opnemen. Emre Kahraman springt terug naar deze klasse na de openingsrace in Klasse 2 te hebben afgewerkt. Hij zal de strijd aanbinden tegen 3 BMW’s, een Peugeot 206 GTi en de BMW 320i van Domenik Holtmann en Nele Von Der Ruhren.
Klasse 2 bood in Zandvoort spannende races. Tom Vanderheyden won de 2 races maar de strijd was stevig. De BMW’s van Vankets-Leynen en Kerckhofs-Van Bouwel zijn te duchten in de strijd om de overwinning. Tel daar nog de Skoda Octavia van Steven Guillemin, de snelle Peugeot 206 GTi van Arthur Zeelmaekers en de Renault Clio van Kristoff Cox bij en de races beloven meer dan spannend te worden.
In Klasse 3 komen Alain De Coninck met een Honda Civic, Arno De Bruijn met zijn Toyota Yaris GR en Jimmy Verstraete met een VW Scirocco Cup de rangen vervoegen. Zij zullen het opnemen tegen 2 andere deelnemers Davy Van Goethem in de Suzuki Swift Cup en de BMW van Hendrix-Sotolongo.
Drie deelnemers vechten het deze keer uit in Klasse 4. Dubbele winnaar in Zandvoort Ned- erlander Jean-Paul Hulsebos met een BMW M235I zal zijn huid duur verkopen in Zolder. Landgenoten Wilbert Groenewoud met zijn BMW M235i Cup en Jan-Jaap Van Dalen met een e46 BMW zullen Hulsebos het vuur aan de schenen leggen.
Kevin De Regt leidt de tussenstand in het kampioenschap en kan die voorsprong in Zolder stevig uitbouwen. Bij afwezigheid van deelnemers in Klasse 6 zal de algemene winnaar in Klasse 5 gezocht moeten worden. De Regt domineerde de klasse in Zandvoort met zijn BMW 130i. De Opel Astra TCR van Peter Pauls en de BMW M240i van Jan Von Kiedrowski vervoegen de rangen in Klasse 5.

New Race Festival Circuit Zolder
Next weekend, two weeks after the opening races in Zandvoort, the second round of the Belcar Skylimit Sprint Cup begins. This time, the championship visits its home race track, Circuit Zolder, as part of the New Race Festival. This is a classic event that saw its first edition back in 1982.
On Saturday, May 2, the weekend kicks off at 1:05 PM with a first 30-minute qualifying session. A second session starts at 3:50 PM. Both qualifying sessions determine the starting order for the first and second races on Sunday, May 3.
The start of that first 30-minute race takes place at 11:00 AM, after which the race weekend concludes that day with a second race at 4:40 PM.
36 participants spread across 30 cars will compete against each other this time in 5 different classes.
Class 1 features 6 strong participants who will face off against one another. Emre Kahraman jumps back into this class after completing the opening race in Class 2. He will do battle against 3 BMWs, a Peugeot 206 GTi, and the BMW 320i of Domenik Holtmann and Nele Von Der Ruhren.
Class 2 offered exciting races in Zandvoort. Tom Vanderheyden won the 2 races, but the battles were fierce. Kevin De Regt leads the championship standings and can significantly extend that lead in Zolder. In the absence of participants in Class 6, the overall winner will have to be found in Class 5. De Regt dominated the class in Zandvoort with his BMW 130i. Peter Pauls' Opel Astra TCR and Jan Von Kiedrowski's BMW M240i join the ranks in Class 5.
